  Society of the Institute

Govt. of India, the Ministry of Human Resource Development, in exercise of power conferred by the University Grants Commission Art, 1956 (Section 3) declared the Society of the National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology as a deemed to be university on the 28th April, 1989 by a gazettee notification. The primary object of the society was to establish, develop and to maintain the educational institution called in above mentioned name. The 'Society' is supreme authority of the Institute. It is composed of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman and 22 Ex-officio and nominated members. The Chairman of the Society is the incumbent Minister of the Department of Culture and Vice-Chairman-the Director General, National Museum.

Board of Management

Board of Management of the National Museum Institute is the principal executive body having powers to administer, plan and conduct all academic and administrative affairs on behalf of the 'Society'. It is also empowered to create teaching and academic posts, frame recruitment rules and bye-laws. The Vice-chairman of the Society presides over the Board of Management, while Registrar acts as non-member Secretary. The Board of Management is composed of 13 exofficio and nominated members as well as the representatives of the Govt.

Academic Council

The Academic Council is the principal academic body of the Institute, which have control over and responsible for the maintenance of the standards of education, teaching and training, inter-departmental coordination, research, examination, tests and other activities. The Chancellor presides over the Council having 11 nominated expert members and representatives of the Govt. and the U.G.C.. The Registrar is the non-member Secretary.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee of the Institute is to look after the financial transactions and are empowered to examine and scrutinise proposals having financial implications and make recommendations to the Board of Management. They are also to give guidance in vital financial matters. Finance Committee is presided over by the Financial Advisor of the Dept. of Culture and there are six members including the Vice-Chairman of the Society and Registrar. The Finance Officer of the Institute is the non-member Secretary of the Committee.
